What is Science City?
Several years ago, the adjoining prefectures of Osaka, Nara and Kyoto decided to make the area where the prefectures meet into a scientific research and development area. Now there are universities, laboratories and other scientific facilities in this roughly 20 mile by 10 mile area.
We moved to this area be share the gospel about Jesus Christ with the many people who were moving into this area to work in the various jobs which were created in this area.
This is an interesting area with old farm homes and rice fields adjacent to modern laboratories. We are thankful to be able to live and work in this exciting location.

Science City Christian Church
Science City Christian Church was begun in 1999 ago at our home in Kizugawa Town, the southernmost part of Kyoto prefecture. There are now several churches and pre-churches (home Bible studies) related to our work in the Science City area. There are the Kizugawadai Church (known as Science City Christian Church), the Hummingbird Home Church and Bible studies in Uji and Fushimi, Kyoto. Please contact us if you are interested in attending one of the churches. All services are in Japanese, except for one English fellowship.
Everyone is welcome to attend any of the churches. Being a Christian or knowing the Bible is not necessary. The meetings include Bible study, hymn singing, prayer and fellowship. The meetings are generally led by the members of the different churches rather than by us, the missionaries.
Our home churches are different from traditional churches in form but not in what they believe and teach. We follow the Baptist tradition of strong belief in the Bible as the revelation of God and in salvation coming through faith in Jesus Christ.

You can see the weather for Nara here to the left. This is an area with history of over 1000 years. Nara and Kyoto were the locations of the imperial palaces and therefore the early capitols of Japan. There are many Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines indicating the long tradition of those Japanese religions.  We are privileged to share Christ with the people here in the heart of Japanese religion and tradition.
